Periodontal diseases can be very simple, but in cases of advanced gum disease, treatment can be tricky. Treatment of mild periodontal disease involves deep scaling and root planing and sometimes there is need to take antibiotics.
When gum disease is more advanced there are several treatment options:
Periodontal pockets can be reduced by cleaning and in some cases by inserting a PERIOCHIP into the pockets. If this is not enough, surgery will be necessary.
Innovative treatments: bone thickening or bone grafting in cases where the disease has caused bone loss.
Perform crown lengthening (crown of tooth) to straighten the gum line.
Gum grafting to cover an area of exposed tooth root surface in cases of significant gum recession as a result of the disease.
