Dental Crowns and Bridges
An unattractive or damaged smile can hurt your self-confidence and make you overly conscious of your smile and overall appearance. Furthermore, damaged or un-aligned teeth can also cause pain, discomfort, chewing problems and other functional difficulties; this makes proper and fast dental care even more important.
Dental crowns and bridges are used to correct a wide range of dental problems, both cosmetic and clinical alike. These replace or cover natural teeth to provide a nice appearance and better dental health and function.
In Dr. Fadie Khoury's Center for Dental Aesthetics and Implant Dentistry we use advanced technologies to produce the most advanced and the very best crowns and bridges, for a variety of procedures, including same day dental implants and teeth restorations. The equipment used to produce the crowns/bridges is all in-house at the clinic and each product is individually designed to match perfectly the patient's needs and characteristics.
What are dental crowns and bridges?
Dental crowns are a mean of restoring or replacing a damaged or missing tooth. A crown can be installed on top of a damaged tooth after it has been treated for cavities, infections, and undergone root canal procedure etc. and professionally and properly prepared for the procedures to come. Alternatively, the crown can also be used to replace a missing or rotten tooth. In this procedure, after a dental implant has been implanted in the inner jaw tissue, the crown is screwed on top. The crown is, in effect, an artificial tooth; custom produced according to individual, personalized measurements and from carefully selected dental materials.
Dental bridges are basically the same as crowns, the difference being that they replace a few missing or damaged teeth rather than only one. With the "All on 4" implant method a bridge with just a few teeth is installed on a single dental implant, and with a single visit to the clinic. Bridges can also be anchored to teeth neighboring the treated or missing teeth.
Dental crowns and bridges can be made using various materials. Traditional and old-fashioned crowns use a metal base with an outer finish of porcelain. The more advanced and better crowns, such as the ones that we use and produce, use only porcelain or zirconia and produce the best results both functionally and aesthetically.
Treatments using dental crowns or bridges
Using crowns or bridges is appropriate for a variety of dental treatments and procedures. These include, for example, root canal treatment for a severely damaged tooth that can't be fully saved, broken or chipped teeth, teeth extremely due to to decay, missing teeth and installing over dental implants.
Procedures involving the installment of dental crowns/bridges can be performed on the same day. Alternatively, more traditional methods requiring multiple visits to the clinic for treatment can also be used.
The result, after completing the installation of the permanent crown, is a fully functional tooth that looks and feels perfectly natural. For the perfect outcome and long lasting results, accurate measurement and first class, professional preparation process are essential. At the Center for Dental Aesthetics and Implant Dentistry, we use the best techniques, technologies, tools and procedures and insist on nothing less than the best results for every patient.
In most cases, the different procedures require the use of temporary crowns/bridges and a follow-up appointment before the permanent solution is installed. The crown obviously matches the patient's mouth and other teeth in terms of shape, fit and color.
